The shelter for the elderly and people with disabilities is a place of hope.
For 15 years, the New Life Christian Mission has been providing shelter and support to the elderly and people with disabilities. This is a place where the disadvantaged find not only a roof over their heads, but also care, safety and the opportunity to feel needed again.
Summarizing the results of 2024, we are pleased to share that during this time the shelter has become a lifeline for 120 more people in difficult life circumstances. Many of them came to us without documents, livelihoods, and some even lost contact with their families. However, our joint work has borne fruit: thanks to the help of the shelter team and caring people, many of our clients were able to restore their documents, receive social support and proper medical care.
The stories of family reunification were a special joy. After many years of loneliness, some of them found a common language with their children or relatives again, returned home or started receiving support from their loved ones. This is not an easy process, but it gives people hope and restores their faith in themselves and those around them.
Today, the shelter is home to more than 60 people for whom old age and illness have become a hardship. However, here they have found not only shelter but also family warmth. We take care of each resident: we help with medical and social issues, support them psychologically and spiritually. We organize walks, meetings, and trips to the sea, which give our residents the joy of communication and a sense of family.
We would like to express our special gratitude to philanthropists who help people with disabilities. Thanks to their support, our wards have received special medical bicycles and wheelchairs that allow them to be more independent and even engage in physical activity. For some of them, it is an opportunity to see the world outside the shelter, and for others, it is a step towards independent living.
We provide each resident with everything they need: clothes, a comfortable place to stay, and a balanced diet that takes into account the special needs of the elderly. Our priority is to create decent conditions where peace, care and respect prevail.
We thank everyone who supports our ministry. Thanks to our joint efforts, the shelter is becoming a place where love, mercy and genuine care change people's lives for the better.
We are planning to build a large "House of Mercy" to be located in Velykyi Dalnyk. This will be a space for 160 comfortable beds, which will take into account all the needs we have encountered over the years of working with the elderly and people with disabilities.
