DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: THE MOTHER AND CHILD HOME WELCOMES NATALIA AND HER SON

The Bilyaivka City Council reached out to the “New Life” Christian Mission with a request to provide shelter for a woman and her son who had become victims of domestic violence. The family found themselves in extremely difficult life circumstances, without a safe place to live, and urgently needed protection and support.

Today, the Mother and Child Home opened its doors to Natalia (46) and her son Pavlo (17). They are originally from the village of Myrne, Odesa region.

Natalia shares that she got married shortly after finishing school. Nine years later, her son Pavlo was born. He was born prematurely and suffered birth injuries that have left lifelong consequences. For the past 17 years, Natalia has devoted her entire life to caring for her son, giving him all of her time, strength, and love.

Her first marriage ended in divorce, and Pavlo's father took no part in his son's upbringing. Later, he passed away. Some time afterward, Natalia remarried. At first, it seemed that life was beginning to improve, but after several years the family faced constant arguments, humiliation, and domestic violence. Her husband repeatedly subjected her to physical abuse and psychological pressure.

Natalia endured the situation for a long time, hoping everything would eventually change. However, after another brutal assault, she was hospitalized for a week. During that time, thanks to the care and support of the Bilyaivka City Council, an opportunity was found to refer Natalia and her son to the Mother and Child Home of the “New Life” Christian Mission.

Today, Natalia and Pavlo are finally safe. A difficult journey of recovery still lies ahead. Natalia has almost no support from relatives, and she has dedicated her entire life to caring for her son. Our team has already begun working with this family to help them recover emotionally, regain stability, receive the support they need, and begin building a new life free from fear and violence.

The Mother and Child Home is a place where women with children who find themselves in crisis can receive safe shelter, comprehensive support, and an opportunity to start over.
