Every day, many elderly people, homeless individuals, and those affected by war face the threat of malnutrition, lacking even the most basic necessities. </p><p>&lt;</p><p style="margin-bottom: 15px;"> That is why for more than 15 years the New Life Christian Mission has been carrying out the charitable project “Feed the Hungry,” organizing social canteens and daily distributions of hot meals. For many people, a bowl of hot soup, a piece of bread, and a glass of compote become a true rescue. </p><h2 style="color: #21507a; font-size: 22px; margin-top: 20px; margin-bottom: 15px;"> More Than Just Food </h2><p> <a href="https://storage.nlm.help/source/1/C2WUVs03j5ISV6MfjowTP9R8oUQdVxHP.jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="https://storage.nlm.help/source/1/C2WUVs03j5ISV6MfjowTP9R8oUQdVxHP.jpg" alt="Help in the social canteen" style="float: left; margin: 5px 25px 15px 0; width: 300px; height: 210px; object-fit: cover; object-position: center center; border-radius: 6px; box-shadow: 0 4px 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.1); display: block;"> </a> </p><p style="margin-bottom: 15px;"> Feeding people is not only a way to satisfy physical hunger, but also an expression of love, humanity, and attention to those whom society often does not notice at all. A social canteen that changes lives

In difficult times, there is a particularly acute need for places where people are accepted unconditionally. A "Mobile Primary Health Care Center" has been opened for vulnerable groups in the city of Odessa during cold spells.

With the onset of winter frosts in Odessa, people who have been left homeless and forced to live on the streets find themselves in particularly dangerous conditions. Cold weather is a real threat to life. There are two tents on Kulikovo Field that serve as a place of support for people who, due to various circumstances, need help. Next to the tents, there is a "mobile first aid station." This is where those who are unable to go to the hospital due to various circumstances turn for help.

Why is coronavirus particularly dangerous among homeless people?

The number of people infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus in the world is 202,241, more than 7,000 people have died, and about 80,000 have recovered. I was asked to comment on how people should treat homeless people during the epidemic. I have always urged people not to be indifferent and not to pass by such people, to offer them help and call us.

Helping government agencies is money down the drain!

As a wise man once said: «If there is no sense in the question, you should not look for it in the answer.» But there are a lot of questions. The fact is that thanks to the efforts of volunteers and residents of the city of Odesa, a ward intended for homeless people was renovated at the Jewish Hospital. And here's the result: it was dismantled before the onset of winter, just when the need arose.
