A "Mobile Primary Health Care Center" has been opened for vulnerable groups in the city of Odessa during cold spells.
With the onset of winter frosts in Odesa, people who have been left without a roof over their heads and are forced to live on the streets find themselves in conditions of extreme danger. Cold is a real threat to life.
At Kulikove Pole, two tents are operating, becoming a place of support for people who, due to various life circumstances, are in need of help.
Next to the tents, a mobile first aid medical point is functioning.
This is where those who cannot access hospital care for various reasons come for help.
Here, volunteers provide primary medical examinations, wound care, bandaging, treatment of injuries, and referrals to specialists when needed.
In winter, the number of people seeking help increases significantly, as frost spares no one. Very often, people come with suspected frostbite of the hands and feet.
What happens to the body of a person living on the streets in freezing conditions?
At low temperatures, blood circulation in the limbs deteriorates sharply. Fingers and toes first become numb, lose sensitivity, and change color. Then tissue damage begins: cracks, open wounds, and inflammation appear.
Without timely assistance, frostbite can lead to tissue death, infections, and even amputation.
Constant moisture, dirt, and lack of warmth only worsen the condition, making even minor injuries life-threatening.
Our volunteers provide daily assistance to people, bandaging numerous wounds and fighting to preserve the health and lives of those who are nearby and in need of help.
Unfortunately, the number of people who require this support does not decrease.
This ministry is an expression of love, care, and hope.
