From Loss to Restoration: The Story of Vyacheslav Palitaev

Vyacheslav Palitaev arrived at the shelter of the "New Life" Christian Mission from Kharkiv. He once had his own home in Luhansk, a stable life, and a family. But war, personal decisions, and circumstances destroyed everything that seemed solid. The loss of his home. A rift with his family. Loneliness.

Vyacheslav has an adult daughter, but he has lost contact with her. A part of his life was left behind, along with the pain and consequences of decisions that can no longer be changed.

His youth was turbulent and led him into a criminal environment. This ended in imprisonment. After his release, life did not become easier—on the contrary, new losses, complicated relationships, and an inner emptiness followed. A fall. Disappointment. A lack of support.

Eventually, Vyacheslav found himself on the streets. Cold, rain, and frost became his daily reality. This led to serious consequences—frostbite on both legs. Homelessness. Illness. The line between life and death.

Just when it seemed that all was lost, someone entered his life who changed the course of events. In Kharkiv, he met Pastor Pavlo Lesko, who helped him get treatment, support, and a chance to avoid living on the streets. This marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Vyacheslav moved to Odessa, to the "New Life" Christian Mission. Here, he didn't just receive help—he found what he had been missing for so long: acceptance, support, and a new family. It was here that Vyacheslav accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Today, he doesn't just live—he serves. He actively participates in the mission's projects, prepares meals, bakes bread, and helps cook hot dishes. A man who once had no bread himself now feeds others.

Vyacheslav's story is the reality for many people who have lost their homes, their connections with loved ones, and their health. It is for people like Vyacheslav that a new shelter is being built today in the village of Velykyi Dalnyk. Not just a roof over their heads—but a chance to live.
