Why is coronavirus particularly dangerous among homeless people?

There are no people in our team with doctoral degrees, we all follow the recommendations of doctors around the world and hope for a quick change for the better. Undoubtedly, you have heard all these recommendations a dozen times.

What can we say specifically about the homeless? They live together in communities of up to 50 people, and are not disgusted by the huge number of possible disease carriers. In addition to begging almost every passerby, they consume all the cigarette butts, food and drinks they can find, and most of them are negligent about their health.

One of the main rules for preventing the spread of the virus is to wash your hands regularly. And although some people still look for opportunities to take a shower and follow the rules of hygiene, the coronavirus cannot be stopped due to the irregularity of these actions.

There are about 20 thousand homeless people in Kyiv, and according to various sources, there are up to 200 thousand in Ukraine! If at least one of them has the coronavirus, there is a risk that they will spread it to local homeless people in common places for sleeping and eating.

What do we recommend you do?

- Make it a priority to take care of the health of your family and friends. Do not expose them to unnecessary risk.

- Do not have close contact with anyone during the epidemic. If a person needs help, call an ambulance or call our hotline +380 73 577 80 80.

- If possible, give the homeless person napkins, soap, water or antiseptic, warm food, clothes, or tell them where they can get help, following the previous points.

- If possible, avoid crowded places and places where you see homeless people most often.
