New life begins here: the story of Kateryna's family's rescue
Caring people approached the New Life Christian Mission with a request to help Kateryna, a young woman from Shyriayevo, Odesa region, who found herself in a difficult life situation.
The woman tried to tell us her story. Kateryna is 27 years old. Her childhood was not easy: she lost her parents at the age of eight and grew up in an orphanage. After graduating from the Tarutino Agricultural Lyceum, she tried to build her own life, but the circumstances were not easy.
Kateryna gave birth to her first son, Kyrylo, now 6 years old, at a young age, but remained a single mother because the child's father did not take part in his upbringing. Later, she met another man and gave birth to three more children: Nastia, 3, Nikita, 2, and little Bohdan, 1.
Daughter Nastia has hearing problems and hardly responds when spoken to. Kateryna attributes this to a childhood trauma: once a large wardrobe fell in her room, the girl was very scared, and after that her behavior changed. Younger children also have delays in physical development. Kateryna had to work hard to provide them with food and basic necessities, but she lacked the time and knowledge to ensure their full development.
Life in the village was becoming increasingly difficult. Due to the lack of work, her husband could not support his family, and the conditions in which the children grew up were unacceptable. When social services became interested in the situation, Kateryna realized that it was time to act.
Thanks to the support of caring people, she learned about the Mother and Child Center and decided to seek help. Here she found shelter, care and a chance to change her life. The center has special developmental programs for children that will help Nastia and her brothers catch up. Kateryna receives support and the necessary knowledge to give her children a better start in life.
We believe that every child deserves love, care and a safe environment for development. The New Life Christian Mission does its best to help such families find hope and a new path in life.
We thank everyone who supports our mission! Together we can give hope to those who need it most.
