A NEW CHAPTER IN OLENA’S LIFE AND THE LIVES OF HER CHILDREN
Today, 25-year-old Olena has found shelter at the “New Life” Mother and Child Home of the Christian Mission together with her two young daughters — 2-year-old Natallia and 1-year-old Anastasiia.
Olena grew up in difficult circumstances. When she was only four years old, her father passed away. Her mother often drank alcohol, and people who also drank frequently stayed in their home.
After finishing school, Olena began living independently. She had a son, but her relationship with his father did not work out, and she had to leave.
Later, she met another man. At first, everything was fine in the family, but after the full-scale war began, her husband went to serve in the army. After returning, he began drinking alcohol.
In 2024, Olena became pregnant. She hoped that the birth of a child would help change the situation — that her husband would stop drinking and that the family would become stable again. But this did not happen.
During this period, Olena experienced a devastating loss — while she was pregnant with her second child, her older son became ill and died of pneumonia. This tragedy was an enormous blow to her.
Over time, the situation at home became increasingly dangerous. Her husband began drinking more frequently and started physically abusing Olena. She no longer had a safe place to stay.
Therefore, Olena made a difficult but important decision — to leave her husband. She gathered her belongings, took her little daughters, and left.
That is how they came to the “New Life” Mother and Child Home of the Christian Mission.
Today, 25-year-old Olena is living in peace and safety.
