Youth, loss, and a chance for a NEW LIFE

The New Life Christian Mission's Mother and Child Home is a place where very young girls face challenges they were not prepared for. Here, being 18–19 years old is not about student life and dreams, but about responsibility for a baby, fear of being left homeless, and fighting for the right to be a mother.

Recently, the Children's Services Department of the Kurisov Village Council contacted us with an urgent request to find accommodation for a young mother with a newborn baby. At 19, she found herself in a situation where she simply had nowhere to go after leaving the maternity hospital.

Nadiya is only 19.

When she was 14, she lost her mother. She went to live with her grandfather. She finished 9th grade and trained as a seamstress. At 16, she became a mother for the first time. At 19, she became a mother for the second time.

This is an age when many are still finding themselves. But Nadiya is already going through trials that not every adult can withstand.

She lived with her partner in her grandfather's house. Due to her partner's alcohol abuse and aggressive behavior, her grandfather was forced to kick them out. When her first son turned one, social services took the child away.

Later, Nadiya became pregnant again. Her partner was drafted into the army. After the birth of her daughter, she was left alone — without support, without a home, with a baby in her arms. The house she could return to is in disrepair and unfit for living with a child.

Today, this 19-year-old girl—a mother with a newborn baby—is safe at the Mother and Child Home.

She is still very young. Exhausted, confused, with pain and fear in her heart. But at the same time, she has a desire to learn, change, and not repeat her mistakes.

We are here to help her not just survive, but grow — internally, responsibly, consciously. So that youth does not become a sentence, but an opportunity.

The Mother and Child Home is a place where 19 years does not mean the end of the story. It means the beginning.

We believe that with joint efforts, Nadiya will be able to become a caring and responsible mother, and her daughter will grow up in a safe environment.
