THE STORY OF ALINA VOLODYMYRIVNA: FROM PAIN AND LOSS TO A NEW BEGINNING

Alina Volodymyrivna is originally from Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region, Ukraine. Before her life changed dramatically, she lived in her own house and took care of her family.

One day, a tragedy occurred that forced her to leave her home. While Alina Volodymyrivna and her son were in the hospital, thieves broke into their house and stole a laptop that had been given to her son as a gift. After that, the family found themselves in danger. For several months, they were forced to hide, living without proper shelter, warmth, or enough food.

Eventually, Alina Volodymyrivna and her son found themselves in a basement, where they had to sleep on the floor. At two o’clock in the morning, they finally managed to leave for Odesa.

At first, they spent about a week living at the railway station. There, they met volunteers who told them where they could seek help. This was how Alina Volodymyrivna learned about the Christian Mission “New Life.”

At that time, she was a very different person. She could barely walk and had to rely on a cane. Today, one year and seven months have passed since she came to live here. During this time, so much has changed: she can now walk without a cane, has regained her strength, and, as she says herself, has become a different person.

Worship services and reading have become an important part of her new life. Here, she found not only a roof over her head but also people who stayed by her side.

“I try to leave all of this behind,” says Alina Volodymyrivna.

Her story is one of pain, loss, and hardship, but also of the strength it takes to begin again. Even at the age of 64, life can open up new chapters, opportunities, and hope.
