HELP TO SURVIVE — INDIA

The New Life Christian Mission began missionary work in India in the summer of 2019. We thought that we had seen a lot of misery in Ukraine, but what is happening in India goes beyond our understanding of the conditions in which people can live. We would like to emphasize the fact that they are not idlers, do not have bad habits and are not to blame for living in poverty. They work hard wherever their caste allows them to, but the salaries they receive are barely enough to cover the minimum they need to get by.

The fate of these people is that they were born into a lower caste and are doomed to live in poverty for the rest of their lives. This way of life is passed down from generation to generation. In India, 200,000 people die every year, and every third inhabitant of the country dies from poor water quality. Due to numerous industrial discharges, substances toxic to humans have been found in the water and pathogens of such dangerous diseases as cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and hepatitis have been identified.

The government does not even try to help these people because they belong to a lower caste. These people are subject to very strict social restrictions, they have no right to live in normal conditions, work in good jobs, drink and eat what they want, even choose a life partner only from their own caste. People live in huts made of brushwood and leftover building materials. If for some reason one of these people dies, no one will ever find out the cause of death. They have no documents or status. It is almost impossible to leave the caste or change to a higher caste, so they are doomed to drink dirty water, catch rats for food, and live in poverty for the rest of their lives.

The New Life Christian Mission regularly helps these tribes with clean water, mosquito nets, blankets, and other necessities for survival. We are determined to continue to help these people who are doomed to live in poverty. But little depends on us, and we ask you not to stand aside, but to participate in helping these people. Together we will show that our God is love and the way to light, not darkness.
