"Protection and hope: the story of saving Alina and her children"
Behind the doors of the Mother and Child Center there are many stories of families and women who were forced to admit their helplessness in the face of long expectations that life would somehow change. Having realized that children should have a full childhood, most of our clients are these mothers. Today we have another family in need of rescue and support.
Alina's life was full of challenges. Married at 17, she became a young mother of little Maxim at 19. However, the happiness did not last long - the marriage broke up, and Alina was left alone with the child. In 2019, she remarried and gave birth to two more children. Together with her husband, she also raised the children from his first marriage, trying to create a real family for everyone. She wanted a happy family.
But over time, the reality became cruel: her husband increasingly abused alcohol, and quarrels escalated into violence. Alina tried for a long time to save her family, hoping that her husband would change, but in vain. After another attack, she had to flee to her mother. In a rage, her husband set fire to their house.
The social service temporarily placed Alina and her children in a hospital. After learning about the situation, her sister turned to our mission for help. Thus, Alina and her three children found shelter in the Mother and Child Home of the New Life Christian Mission. Unfortunately, the man's four children stayed with him - due to legal restrictions, Alina could not become their official guardian.
Today, Alina and her children are safe. We met them in Odesa, provided them with everything they needed and provided support. A new path lies ahead. We believe that within these walls she will find not only peace but also faith in the future. And her children will receive love, care and a chance for a happy childhood.
Each story is a reminder that even in the darkest times there is light. And together we light it in the hearts of those who need it.
