Help to Survive — GCS project in India
A team of volunteers from the New Life Christian Mission visited one of tribes in India where the poorest people live. We thought we had seen a lot of misery in Ukraine, but what is happening in India goes beyond our understanding of the conditions in which people can live.
We got to know the people of the tribe we visited and their problems. We would like to emphasize the fact that they are not idlers, do not have bad habits and are not to blame for living in poverty. They work hard wherever their caste allows them to, but the salaries they receive are barely enough to cover the minimum they need to get by. The fate of these people is that they were born into a lower caste and are doomed to live in poverty for the rest of their lives. And this way of life is passed down from generation to generation.
Our mission is to show these people a different way of life, to show them that our God does not divide people into castes and that we are all equal and valuable to him. To give them hope that by believing in Jesus Christ, they will have a chance to escape from this way of life.
Our guide and pastor Daniel, from a high caste, fell in love with a girl from a lower caste tribe. Almost no one came to his wedding. Only a few friends supported him. Daniel said that he not only said that everyone is equal before God, but also proved it in practice. In Daniel's heart, there are now 23 tribes he serves. And many of them have broken out of the circle of misery and become normal people.
