Help that saves: winter results in the Stalwart and Obihryvyi Rih points in 2024-2025.
Since the beginning of winter, two round-the-clock "Points of Unbreakability and Warming" have been opened in Odesa, on Kulykove Pole, and have become a refuge for people in difficult life circumstances. Volunteers of the New Life Christian Mission support the homeless every day, providing them with warm shelter, hot food, medical care and the opportunity to start their lives anew.
These centers have become part of the Homeless Assistance Service, which has been operating in the city for 15 years. Every day, volunteers take to the streets to distribute hot meals, help with essentials and support those in need. However, the help is not limited to food and warmth. Volunteers seek to understand what led a person to homelessness, help restore documents, establish contact with family and find a way out of the crisis.
A special role is played by the mobile medical aid station, where volunteer medics provide daily treatment, bandage wounds and help restore health. In winter, the number of cases increases significantly, as living on the streets leads to serious consequences: frostbite, infections, and sometimes amputations.
However, even in the most difficult situations there is a chance to change everything. The Mission has a Center for Personal Recovery where people who want to leave the streets can undergo a rehabilitation program, find a job and return to normal life.
Results of this winter
Over 80 days of operation of the heating centers:
5537 people applied for help
7900 servings of hot meals were prepared
6320 liters of tea were distributed
316 people received medical assistance
118 people left the streets and agreed to take part in a recovery program
The war has caused a new wave of homelessness - people are forced to leave their hometowns in search of work and housing, but often find themselves on the verge of street life. We work 365 days a year, 24/7, to support everyone who needs it.
